Jean Pisani-Ferry est Senior Fellow à Bruegel (Bruxelles) et Non-Resident Senior Fellow au Peterson Institute (Washington DC). Il enseigne à Sciences Po (Paris). Il est président (non-exécutif) de I4CE, l'Institut de l'économie pour le climat. Il est Distinguished Fellow du CEPR.
Ses travaux actuels portent sur les incidences économiques de l'action pour le climat, sujet sur lequel il a remis en mai 2023 un rapport à la Première ministre, sur les questions européennes, et sur l'action collective internationale.
Commissaire général de France Stratégie de 2013 à 2016, Jean Pisani-Ferry avait rejoint en janvier 2017 la campagne d’Emmanuel Macron comme directeur du pôle programme et idées. De 2005 à 2013, il a été le premier directeur de Bruegel (Bruxelles), centre de recherche et de débat sur les politiques économiques en Europe. Il avait précédemment été directeur du CEPII (1992-1997), conseiller auprès du ministre de l'Economie, des Finances et de l'Industrie (1997-2000), et président délégué (2001-2002) du Conseil d’Analyse Economique.
Ancien titulaire de la chaire Tommaso Padoa Schioppa de L'Institut Universitaire Européen de Florence, il a enseigné à la Hertie School of Governance de Berlin, à l'Université Paris-Dauphine et à l'École polytechnique.
Jean Pisani-Ferry tient des chroniques mensuelles dans Le Monde et Project Syndicate. Son dernier livre est Politique économique (en collaboration, De Boeck, 5ème édition, 2020, et Oxford University Press, 2018).
Bio
Jean Pisani-Ferry is a Senior Fellow at Bruegel, the European think tank, a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute (Washington DC). He teaches at Sciences Po (Paris). He serves as non-executive chair of I4CE, the French institute for climate economics. He is a Distinguished Fellow of CEPR.
His current research focuses on the economic impact of climate action, a topic on which he submitted in May 2023 a report to the French Prime Minister, on European economic policy issues, and on international collective action.
Pisani-Ferry served from 2013 to 2016 as Commissioner-General of France Stratégie, the ideas lab of the French government. In 2017, he contributed to Emmanuel Macron’s presidential bid as the Director of programme and ideas of his campaign. He was from 2005 to 2013 the Founding Director of Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic think tank. Beforehand, he was Executive President of the French PM’s Council of Economic Analysis (2001-2002), Senior Economic Adviser to the French Minister of Finance (1997-2000), and Director of CEPII, the French institute for international economics (1992-1997).
Pisani-Ferry has held the Tommaso Pado Schioppa chair of the EUropean University Institute. He has taught at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, University Paris-Dauphine, École Polytechnique, École Centrale and the Free University of Brussels.
His publications include numerous books and articles on economic policy and European policy issues. He has also been an active contributor to public debates with regular columns in Le Monde and for Project Syndicate.
